The Seacoast United Boys’ Academy will be embarking on a new era this season when they kick-off their league campaign in the brand-new MLS Next league. The youth soccer landscape has experienced a lot of change and nowhere was that more apparent than when the US Development Academy, of which Seacoast United was a founding member, closed its doors back in May. The MLS Next league was launched in conjunction with all of the MLS professional clubs, in addition to dozens of club soccer programs across the country. The current membership includes 113 clubs, 489 teams and 9,000+ players across the U.S. and Canada and features over 90% of the current youth national team player pools.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the MLS EYDP Youth League and are eagerly anticipating our first games this weekend,” said Boys’ Academy Director Peter Decker. “Both the players and staff have worked extremely hard over the last few months.” Decker went on to say, “We are all excited and feel fully prepared ahead of the season.”

The Boys’ Academy will welcome Northeast divisional rivals Bayside FC and Beachside Soccer Club to the Seacoast United Outdoor Complex on Saturday 19th. The U12-14 age group will take on Bayside while the U15-19 boys will square off against Beachside. Saturday will mark the boys’ first game competing in the inaugural season of MLS Next. MLS NEXT will provide the best player development experience in North America. Founded on a collaborative approach to governance and a commitment to innovation, MLS NEXT players have access to the highest level of competition and to training and personal development opportunities that will prepare them for their futures, both in soccer and in life.

Focusing specifically on this weekend’s opponents, Decker was quoted saying, “We are looking forward to hosting Bayside FC (U12-U14) & Beachside (U15-U19) this weekend. Both clubs have a fantastic tradition and always provide extremely competitive fixtures for our teams.”
