Seacoast United’s U.S. Development Academy teams will travel to Sarasota, Florida in early December for the 2011 Development Academy Winter Showcase and Nike International Friendlies.  Both of Seacoast United’s U15/16 and U17/18 teams will face Crew Soccer Academy (MLS Columbus Crew) in their first matches of the showcase event.

Seacoast United’s squads will face MLS club Crew Soccer Academy in their first games of the showcase event.  College coaches from all over the country will be in attendance, as well as US National Team scouts and staff.

Saturday, December 3rd

In Saturday’s action vs. the Columbus Crew, both the U15/16 and U17/18 teams fell by a score of 3-0.  The U17/18’s had a morning kickoff and started a bit sluggish but their performance in the 2nd half was much better.  Changes to Seacoast United’s center midfield and defense improved the pressure brought on by the Crew.

The U16’s conceded a goal very early on and were matched up against a very physical Crew squad.  SUSC changed their formation from a 4-2-3-1 in the first half to a 4-1-3-2 in the 2nd half to counter the attack of Columbus.  As a result of the lineup changes, Seacoast had success going forward forcing Crew’s defense to adjust and their keeper to make some great saves on shots and 1v1 chances.  SUSC outplayed their opponent in the 2nd half but couldn’t capitalize on their scoring opportunities.
