Tar Heel State Bound

Tar Heel State Bound

After a successful campaign down in Florida the other week for some of our older Girls Academy teams, the focus shifts to our younger groups who will make the journey to the Tar Heel State for the U13-U14 Girls Academy League Showcase. Duke, UNC and Wake Forest are renown for being some of the top athletic programs in the entire country and this weekend the state will be welcoming top youth soccer programs from all over including Seacoast United.

“We feel it is important to include our younger teams as well in these national showcase events, just like our older Academy teams.” Girls Academy Director Chris Scott stated.

Similar to the older teams, this will be the first competitive event outside of the northeast that the girls have participated in, and the excitement has been building up all week long at training. In true New England fashion, the teams have been exposed to all types of weather elements the past couple of weeks ranging from hurricane winds to snow flurries so the escape down south to a warmer climate seems to be the thing everyone is looking forward to the most.

“The girls are not only excited to play in some warmer weather, but get their first real taste of what it is like to compete on the national stage. We look forward to taking on some unfamiliar opponents, as we see this a tremendous learning experience for both our players and our coaches.”.

The competition gets underway on April 30th and will run until May 2nd. For more information on the Girls Academy please email Chris Scott at cscott@seacoastunited.com Be sure to follow all of Seacoast United’s official social media channels for the latest updates on this weekend’s action.
