One of our very own Development Academy players, Aaliyah Farid, has been selected to play for the U20 Women's National Morocco Team. Aaliyah is one of four U.S. selectees on the team, and is already in the process of training with her new teammates. The goal of the Moroccan national program is to compete for both the World Cup qualification and the African Cup qualification. The national team has just completed a week of training and friendly matches in Morocco, as they prepare for their first game on March 22nd in Algeria.

As a New Hampshire native, Aaliyah is a lifelong member of Seacoast United and a true representation of the Seacoast United model. She began playing soccer at Seacoast all the way back to Grassroots with the club. As her love of the game grew, she remained with the club as a part of the Junior Academy program and played her way up to the Development Academy.

“Aaliyah has has an amazing experience with Seacoast United and it has certainly helped her with her overall development,” commented Aaliyah’s mother Wendi. “Her coaches, teammates and friends have all been very supportive and we are thrilled that she gets to have this opportunity.”

Director or Soccer Iain Scott has this to say about the recent news,“Aaliyah demonstrates everything we look for in a young person so it came as no surprise to me that she has been selected to represent Morocco.” Scott went on to say, “This is an amazing opportunity for her and she knows that she has the entire organization behind her.”

The club would like to wish Aaliyah and her team the best of luck and congratulations on her tremendous accomplishment!
