GRASSROOTS SOCCER ONLINE CURRICULUM

Seacoast United Sports Club is taking its popular youth soccer program and giving it a digital facelift. Having suspended all club based facilities and programs due to stay-at-home ordinances, Seacoast United has been rolling out weekly at home workouts for all soccer, baseball, softball, field hockey and lacrosse players. Adopting the same approach as schools, these new programs mirror the remote learning lessons that students are currently participating in across New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine with a focus on physical activity.

Due to the success of the content targeted towards our club athletes, Seacoast United wanted to take this concept and apply it to some programming for younger participants. For over 20 years, Seacoast United has offered a unique opportunity for young children to get involved in the game of soccer in the form of its popular Grassroots class. In each of the classes, the main objective is to teach with an emphasis on having fun, while relating that enjoyment with playing soccer to develop the necessary skills to be a competitive player in the future.

Seacoast United has taken this concept and rolled out a series of videos aimed specifically for Grassroots participants, 3-8 years of age. Each video contains several exercises which can all be done from the comfort of your home. The aim is to incorporate a warm up drill to get the players moving and then introduce a soccer ball later in the drill so you can start to work on the fundamentals of the game. There is a healthy mix of games and player/parent participation to make sure everyone is benefitting from the program. The soccer staff will be providing a new set of exercises each week and the videos will be updated accordingly on the Seacoast United YouTube Channel.
