Phantoms Receive PDL 2014 Progress Award

December 2014

2014 has been an outstanding year for the Seacoast United Phantoms, based in New Hampshire.  The Phantoms compete in the Premier Development League (PDL) which is a subsidiary of United Soccer Leagues (USL). The Seacoast United Phantoms clinched the PDL’s Northeast Division title in July with a 3-1 victory over GPS Portland Phoenix, finishing the regular season with a record of 11-1-2 (tied for 2nd best in the entire league).

The success the program had on the field began with strategic planning several months prior to the start of the season.

“A conscious decision by Seacoast United Sports Club owner Paul Willis at the end of 2013 season was to restructure the PDL program and it is the reason the Phantoms have won this award,” noted Iain Scott, Head Coach for the Seacoast United Phantoms and Director of Soccer for the Club as a whole.
“Both Paul and Jim Dedeus, franchise owner, are two men I would die for and to see both of them smile is  a reward in itself for a coach like me. We all know that quality players win football matches but quality people off the field like we have completes the formula. Congratulations to everyone associated to the Phantoms success in 2014, now the hard work begins again.”

All the hard work was recognized at the annual USL Annual General Meetings (AGM) held in Clearwater, Florida. The USL recognized its outstanding teams and executives on Friday 12th December at the Hall of Fame & Awards Dinner. The event honored those who have helped the USL continue its role as the largest organization of the elite-level soccer leagues in North America.

Seacoast United walked away with the 2014 PDL Progress Award which capped off what has been a tremendous year for the program. The Phantoms are already hard at work preparing for the 2015 season. If you are interested in finding out more about the program, please visit for details.
