Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Both Seacoast United Phantoms men's teams are on the road this weekend, with a tough test against three competitive opponents.  Friday evening, the PDL team travels to Quincy, MA for a 7pm kickoff vs. Boston Victory.  The NPSL has back to back games, away at NY Red Bull on Saturday before a stop in Cranston, RI on Sunday to face the Rhode Island Reds.

PDL Phantoms At Boston Victory on Saturday

The Seacoast United Phantoms take their recent good fortune to Quincy, MA this Saturday to face Boston Victory in PDL Northeast Division action.

The Phantoms have started the season on a very positive note, with two wins and a tie, both wins coming on the road.  Striker Dylan George has a flair for the dramatic with the timing of his goals thus far.  George has scored two goals and added an assist in the three games, with the most recent being an equalizer in extra time during last Sunday’s home opener .  The Phantoms leading scorer received Honorable Mention recognition with the announcement of the PDL’s "Team of the Week" after the league’s first week of games.

Boston enters the game at 1-1, with a come from behind 2-1 victory in their opener vs. CFC Azul, and a 2-0 loss to Worcester Hydra.  With the results seen against these two common opponents by the Phantoms (tie, win respectively), the matchup with Boston Victory looks to be quite competitive.  Boston will play the Western Mass Pioneers on Friday evening before hosting Seacoast United at home on Saturday night.

The Seacoast United Phantoms return home on Saturday May 26th to host Ottawa Fury as the featured game of Memorial Day weekend.  All participants of the 2012 Seacoast United Nate Hardy Memorial Day tournament will receive free admission to the Phantoms/Fury match at Portsmouth High School.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.  Tickets are available online and at the gate:  $5 for adults, $3 for youth (ages 5-18) and children under 5 are free.

NY Red Bull open their season this weekend, with back to back games against Seacoast United teams with the Phantoms on Saturday and the Seacoast United Mariners on Sunday.  Both games are scheduled for 6pm.

The Rhode Island side is new to the NPSL this season, and in their only match of the spring have a 1-0 loss at home vs. the Brooklyn Italians.  The Reds host FC New York on Friday evening, a squad that tied Seacoast United 2-2 last Saturday in the Phantoms opener.

The Phantoms return home to take part in a doubleheader with the Seacoast United Mariners on Wednesday May 23rd at the Club’s Outdoor Complex in Epping, NH.  The WPSL Phantoms kick off at 5pm in their first game of the 2012 season, while the men follow at 7pm.
