U.S. Open Cup Pairings Announced; Phantoms to Face GPS in Round 1

HAMPTON, NH - U.S. Soccer announced the 1st and 2nd round matchups on April 8th for the 2015 Lamar Hunt Open Cup, with competition set to begin April 25th.

The Seacoast United Phantoms (PDL) will make their first Open Cup appearance in club history when they take on Global Premier Soccer (USASA) on Wednesday, May 13th at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA at 8pm.

HAMPTON, NH - U.S. Soccer announced the 1st and 2nd round matchups on April 8th for the 2015 Lamar Hunt Open Cup, with competition set to begin April 25th.

The Seacoast United Phantoms (PDL) will make their first Open Cup appearance in club history when they take on Global Premier Soccer (USASA) on Wednesday, May 13th at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA at 8pm.  The winner will then advance to play the Tulsa Roughnecks (USL-PRO) on May 20th, venue TBA.  The Phantoms qualified by capturing the Premier Development League's 2014 Northeast Division crown with an 11-1-2 record.

2015 marks the 102st edition of US Soccer's oldest and most prestigious national cup competition.  The Lamar Hunt Open Cup will host 91 teams, marking the largest field in the modern era (1995-present).  U.S. professional teams from Divisions I, II, and III will enter the competition at different stages of the tournament.  USL teams enter in the 2nd round, NASL teams in the 3rd round, and MLS in the 4th round.

All 19 PDL teams will enter the competition in the first round, set to be played on May 13. The winners will advance for a chance to face USL opposition in the second round, to be played the following week on May 20.
