May 31st, 2016

HAMPTON, NH - After a 10-day layoff, the Seacoast United Phantoms return to action Wednesday evening when they host division rival GPS Portland Phoenix at Southern NH University (7pm).

The Phantoms are coming off a 2-1 loss away to AC Connecticut on May 22nd.  That weekend, striker Willy Miezan played well, providing the offense with two goals in as many games.  The Phantoms currently sit tied for 1st in the Northeast Division with a record of 2-1-1.

GPS Portland Phoenix are unbeaten in their two games this year, with 2-1 wins over Western MA Pioneers and AC Connecticut, both on the road.  GPS has five consecutive road games to start the 2016 season before hosting Westchester Flames in Maine on June 11th.  Striker Fletcher Ekern has provided two of the team’s 4 goals on the season.

“After a difficult trip on the road, we are really looking forward to the next stretch of three home games,” commented head coach Iain Scott.  “During this stretch we are looking to gather as many points as possible.”

After Wednesday’s match, the Seacoast United Phantoms have two days to prepare for FC Boston on Saturday, June 4th at Southern NH University (4pm kickoff).  The first meeting between the two teams resulted in a 2-1 Phantoms victory on May 14th.
