NEWTON, MA - Rebounding after their exit from the US Open Cup competition on Wednesday, the Seacoast United Phantoms earned their first win of the 2016 PDL season on Saturday vs FC Boston, 2-1.
The visitors struck first, with Trent Lougheed's header from a Terence Carter chip across the goal mouth in the 33rd minute.
FC Boston would draw even with 20 minutes to play, as Bernard Yeboah provided the scoring for the home team. Boston would continue pressing in the 2nd half, but were unable to capitalize.
A late substitution gave a lift to the Phantoms side who has been struggling offensively in their first two games. Striker Alencar Junior's cross was tucked into the back of the net by Errol Reid with 3 minutes remaining. The 2-1 win improves the Phantoms PDL record to 1-0-1 on the young season.
Seacoast United will travel to Westchester FC (NY) next Saturday, May 21 before returning home to face GPS Portland Phoenix on June 1st.
