HAMPTON, NH - The Seacoast United Phantoms have announced their roster for Friday's match vs. English professional club Oxford United. July 27th's matchup is the 2nd meeting between the two teams, having played last summer during Oxford's first trip to the United States. The result was a 1-1 draw in an exciting match that thrilled the 1000+ in attendance.
The Phantoms defense has been the team's strength all season in Brad Hilton, Jordan Thomas, James Goodwin, Ryan Dunn, Joey Barima, and Austin Britt. Britt is the only addition from the back line that had played in the 2011 preseason match vs. Oxford. Josh Bronner, Yannik Kabala, Jesse Schram, Eric Masi, Scott Rowling, Steven Palumbo, and Robbie McLarney are a mix of veterans and new faces in the midfield, behind strikers Colin Smith, Charlie Roche, and Dylan George. Colin O'Donnell and Travis Worra were named as the squad's goalkeepers.
Head coach Iain Scott has also listed two U18 players from Seacoast United's Development Academy program on the roster: Jordan Misiri and Frandzy Pierrot. Misiri, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, lives in Manchester, NH and was part of the Inti Soccer Academy program prior to joining Seacoast United. Pierrot is originally from Haiti and attends Melrose High School in Melrose, MA.
"Both of the boys have done exceptionally well this year and both have been recognized by US Soccer," commented Seacoast United President & CEO Paul Willis. "Its a nice way for us to highlight them and give them an opportunity to be a part of this special event."
The "Yellows" arrive in the United States late afternoon on Monday July 23rd and have a rigid schedule during their stay, beginning with training Tuesday morning before kicking off Tuesday night vs. the Seacoast United Mariners in the first of their three preseason matches (Thornton Academy, Saco ME).
July 27th's game vs. the Phantoms at Portsmouth High School will donate 50% of the gate receipts to the Chief Maloney & Injured Officers fund.
On Monday, July 30th Oxford United will face a "Jim Dedeus XI" New England All-Star team comprised of players who compete at the PDL and NPSL levels. Rosters for the All Star squad are expected to be announced early next week.
Kickoff for all three games will take place at 7pm. Tickets are $5 per person and are available in advance online here
