PORTSMOUTH, NH - The Seacoast United Phantoms remain leaders of the Northeast Division after today's 3-2 victory over Westchester Flames.

The first real opportunity for the home team came in the 14th minute when striker Junior Alencar's shot required a sprawling save by the Westchester goalkeeper.  The resulting corner kick produced the first goal of the match, as Andre Simmond served in a beautiful ball, connecting with the head of Errol Reid.

Just two minutes later, the Flames were caught in transition on a through ball, again finding Alencar and sending him on a 1v1 opportunity to goal. Beating the keeper low, the finish extended the Phantoms lead to 2-0.

The Flames would respond however, just 10 minutes later striker Joey Devivo cut the lead in half to make it 2-1.  Midfielder Joey Sanchez would tie the game in the 36th minute on a shot from right side of box, beating Phantoms goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson low far corner.

While the Phantoms seemed to control the pace of play in the opening 25 minutes, momentum shifted towards Westchester for the rest of the 1st half.

Seacoast United adjusted in the 2nd half, and were able to generate a few attacking opportunities.  In the 64th minute, the Phantoms would regain the lead on a pass from midfielder Trent Lougheed to Alencar down the right flank.  Alencar's shot would be saved by the Westchester goalkeeper, but the rebound was gathered by Lougheed for the Phantoms' game winning goal.

The Phantoms improve to 4-2-1 (13 points) as they reach the midway point in the 2016 season, while Westchester drops to 2-4-1 (7 points).  Seacoast United will face division rival GPS Portland Phoenix at Deering HS in Yarmouth, ME at 6pm on Saturday evening.  Their next home games are scheduled for June 25th & 26th, both take place at Exeter High School (Exeter NH).
