HAMPTON, NH - After a disappointing loss on Wednesday night in the first round of the US Open Cup, the Seacoast United Phantoms turn their focus back to the PDL schedule and Saturday’s road trip to Massachusetts to face FC Boston.
The Phantoms (0-0-1 in Northeast division play, 0-1-1 in all competitions) visit FC Boston, who host the NH side in their first game of the PDL season at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA. The FC Boston roster includes standouts Mac Steeves (U23 USMNT Pool/Providence College), Miles Robinson (U20 US MNT/Syracuse University), and Andy Dorman (NE Revolution & Crystal Palace).
The majority of PDL clubs are coming off an opening May 7-8th weekend that saw most teams playing with short rosters, as players are still returning from college.
Seacoast United opened the season with a 1-1 draw, playing host to the Western MA Pioneers on May 7th. The Phantoms gave up a goal on a Chris Roswess header in the 55th minute, but were able to even the score 20 minutes later when striker Alencar Junior’s shot deflected off a Pioneers defender and curled in over the head of goalkeeper Nick Zucco.
In both of their matches, the Phantoms have struggled to produce a consistent offensive attack as they welcome new faces to the 2016 squad. The team faces a tough schedule as the next 3 games are on the road taking them through the end of the month, returning home on June 1st vs. division rival GPS Portland Phoenix at Southern NH University.
