WALKING SOCCER PICKING UP SPEED

Seacoast United Sports Club launched its’ 8-week Walking Soccer pilot program several weeks ago and already the activity is starting to make waves across the New England region.

In the space of four weeks, participation numbers have more than doubled with last week’s session seeing the biggest turnout to date. The program was initially kicked off in collaboration with RiverWoods Exeter, a Continuing Care Retirement Community, which is located just a few minutes away from the Epping Sports Complex. A number of surrounding communities/organizations have reached out since then which has helped the number of participants grow each week.

One of the newest groups to get involved is Newmarket Recreation Department’s Sunrise Sunset Center. Headed up by Kim Tilton, the center’s mission is to recognize and offer recreational experiences which promote feeling happy and healthy all the while enhancing the overall quality of life in Newmarket.

“Our members can't stop talking about how fun it is to play this slightly competitive, social and beneficial team sport.  The players are amazed at how much enjoyment they are getting from learning the game of soccer.” said Program Director Kim Tilton.  “The knowledgeable and patient Seacoast United coaches have been excellent instructors and always encourage the players regardless of ability.”

There are still a few weeks remaining of the Walking Soccer program so if you are interested in getting involved please email James Peterson at jpeterson@seacoastunited.com
