Seacoast United’s U12G Premier KK goalkeeper Claire Theberge recently spent a week in Buff Bay, Jamaica, immersed in the community while travelling with her grandmother and a church group from Massachusetts. The group brought supplies of all kinds to hospitals, clinics, churches, and schools. The group works with Buff Bay Baptist which networks with about 6 other churches to serve the community.
In the weeks leading up to her trip, Claire reached out to her Seacoast teammates and friends within the club and her hometown of Plaistow, NH to collect used soccer balls. She coordinated the collection of the donations and surprised her new friends in Jamaica by distributing the balls and pre-loved game jerseys to the local children. In total, Claire brought over 40 soccer balls and a dozen game jerseys. These items were a great surprise, bringing smiles to the faces of all the neighborhood children.
Claire would like to thank her Seacoast United teammates and all the families who donated items to benefit the children and local communities visited on her trip. Well done Claire!
