Seacoast United GU17 Elite team head to Indiana to compete in the US Club Soccer National Cup, taking place July 17-20. The GU17 Elite team progressed to the National Cup by winning the NEP New England Regional final against Aztecs, and are the only female team from NH to be represented at the competition.
Teams who have qualified for the US Club National Cup come from all over the country, competing at the various Regional events across the United States. The National Cup event will be held at Grand Park in Westfield IN, which recently hosted the US Soccer Development Academy Showcase at the end of June. The GU17 Elite team are comprised of players from New Hampshire and Maine, and will hope to continue the success they have had recently at the Jefferson Cup (VA) and Columbia Invitational (MD) tournaments.
The GU17 Elite team is coached by Chris Scott, Seacoast United's Girls' Director, who is looking forward to the experience.
"It is fitting for this team to be competing at a National competition, they have worked extremely hard to get to this level over the past year and it was always our goal to prolong the season into July and compete at the National level," he commented. "It will be a great experience for the girls to compete against teams from around the country at the National Cup, and we will aim to represent Seacoast United and New England well. There is a good feel about the group right now, and they are looking sharp, and we now look to make new goals which we will work towards achieving."
