Over the weekend of June 2-3rd, Seacoast United Field Hockey's U16 team competed at the Regional Club Championships in Greenwich, CT. After two hard fought days of competitive field hockey, SUFH's team finished 3rd place, with a record of 5-1. This finish solidified their bid to the U16 National Club Championship, and marks the first time that Seacoast United has ever sent a U16 team to this prestigious event! The U16 NCC will be held July 12th-14th in Lancaster, PA and we could not be more proud that this group of athletes will be representing Seacoast United this year. GO SEACOAST!
This past weekend Seacoast United Field Hockey had the opportunity to host the Under-19 Regional Club Championships at the SUSC Outdoor Complex in Epping, NH. Not only was it a beautiful weekend for field hockey, but this was the 5th time SUFH has been named an RCC host site, the first taking place in 2013!
Our girls started the weekend off with a 0-1 loss to Coastal Field Hockey Club, but after that loss they were able to really turn things around. They rallied and came together as a team, winning their next two pool play games 3-1 against Patriot Field Hockey and Maine Majestix. These two wins secured their spot as the #1 seed in their pool going into crossovers.
On Sunday they started the day with an explosive 5-1 win over Striker Stars, securing their spot in the semi-final game against Team AGH. Team AGH is a very strong club program from CT, and after a hard fought battle, Seacoast came out on top winning 1-0! This game felt like the championship because it meant that our girls had secured a spot at the 2018 National Club Championship. After this game, they lost to North East Elite, and finished 2nd place in the region.
After such an exciting weekend, our girls are headed to the National Club Championship in Lancaster, PA July 15th-17th. This is the first time Seacoast United's U19 team has attended the NCC, since 2013. We could not be more proud or excited about this group of athletes that will be representing our club at the National level. GO SEACOAST!
