The Seacoast United Pirates baseball teams were back in action and seemed to heat up with the weather. Overall, the Pirates teams finished with a 27-21 record for the weekend of April 16-17th. The Pirates 13U Carolina team swept the New Hampshire Bobcats with convincing 8-0 and 14-4 wins. Timely hitting, good pitching, and great defense were a key in the victories.
The 12U Gold team made it back into a playoff race with a sweep of the Northeast Hurricanes (Sallisbury MA) baseball team on Sunday. The team put together an 8-4 win, and a 11-7 win. Two-out hitting was the theme of the day as they scored 14 out of their 19 runs with two outs.
The 14U Pirates Navy team exploded with a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend, taking down the Northeast Hurricanes on Saturday before traveling to the East Coast Eagles on Sunday, where they won two games on enemy soil. The 14U Navy team is now 6-2 on the year, and has gotten off to a fast start. They are being led by first year head coach Danny Lake.
“Danny has been around for a couple of years now and has really learned a lot over that time. He may be a younger head coach, but he is showing that he is a great baseball mind and we love having him around,” said Coach Eric Wells.
The Pirates want to send out their congratulations to Jason Pinsonnault for hitting three home runs in one game this weekend. This has to be one of the greatest accomplishments a ball player can have, congratulations Jason!
