Seacoast United Soccer Club has entered 10 teams (U13 - 17) into the 2011 Super Y League New England Division and 2 teams into the Super 20 New England Division. The 2011 season will mark the tenth straight year that the club has entered in the league, and the developmental benefits for SUSC players has consistently grown. The Super Y league continues to give SUSC players the opportunity to play in a well-organized and competitive league through the spring and summer months that hopefully culminates in teams’ playing in the National Finals in November.
Last season the SUSC Directors were very happy with the teams’ performances, and are looking forward to another competitive season in 2011. Recent highlights: The 2010 season saw six Seacoast United teams head to Tampa for the National Finals. In 2009, the U14 girls captured the National Championship at the Super Y League National Finals in Tampa, Florida. The 2009 Super 20 girls’ team also advanced to the national finals in Chicago. These teams epitomize what is needed in the Super Y League, namely dedication and hard work, and we are proud of their performances.
SUSC had witnessed the increasing competition in the Super Y League over the past two seasons in particular. This competition means that SUSC must make a greater effort to attract the very best players to the club. In the past coaches have been found to use their existing USYSA, or State Cup teams for the Super Y competition. The U13-U17 Seacoast United Premier Teams are primarily the Super Y League Seacoast United Wanderers teams, as it is part of our regular program. It is not intended to be an optional part of our program. Each team can roster 26 players. Coaches may supplement their rosters with players from within our Club or with players from other Clubs. With ore numbers at training a better training environment will be created making more competition for places. All players will have the opportunity to train and work toward making the team on a weekly basis. There should be a clear understanding that they cannot take their position for granted because the guarantee of moving from a state cup roster to a super y roster is no longer in evidence.
Currently, the 2011 Super Y League schedule is being finalized. Games will begin in May 2011 and end in August 2011. The Club believes that offering a summer training and game option for it’s players will add to the overall development model that is already in place. New teams have been added to the league. Specifically, the addition of Seacoast United Phantoms (click here for more details) which will no doubt create greater in-state competition. Further, cross conference games may take place that will only increase the competitive nature of the league.
"The future looks bright for SUSC teams," according to John Price SUSC's Super Y League Operations Director. "Games are only beneficial to our players and aid their development if they mean something. We encourage the players to take each game seriously and want to succeed on the field. We know the competition is good for our players, and the ultimate goal must be to appear in the National Finals in November 2011.”
Teams can expect to play anywhere from 12 to 16 games, with home games being held at the Epping Outdoor Field Complex in Epping NH. Player tuition for the 2011 season is $550 for U-13, 14, 15, 16, 17. Please note that new players to the club will also incur uniform cost.
